Feeling the Holiday Weight? You're Not Alone...

A weekly e-newsletter to help you reach your potential and make a difference in the world.

The end of the year brings a unique kind of exhaustion.

It seems no matter how hard I try to minimize and simplify, I still feel bogged down this time of year.

I call it the holiday malaise. It's not depression (though if you're dealing with that, I have deep compassion for you). It's more like a fog that settles in when:

  • Trying to wrap up important work and feeling the "deadline" of the end of the year
  • The cultural focus on materialism
  • The flurry of activity embedded within the holiday season
  • The sometimes suffocating darkness that begins at 4:30 PM after the fall equinox in the Northern Hemisphere
  • The tiredness that comes at the end of something
  • The anticipation (and pressure) of something new

Maybe you feel that way too, and you're not sure why. If so, it's okay. No reflection questions this week. Just some encouragement.

Moving Forward with Grace

Let yourself feel it without trying to figure it out. Talk to a friend. Be kind to yourself. Give yourself some space to be human. Lean into the good things in your life.

As you move into December, I hope you find time to enjoy and appreciate the good things in your life.

Until next time,

PS - Are you benefitting from my writing? Leave me a tip so I can keep on creating!
