A weekly to help high achievers (a.k.a overachievers) reach their potential and make a difference.
Happy New Year!
We all want to enter the New Year on a full tank, not an empty one.
One indicator I need to recharge is when I’m no longer excited to write these weekly emails. That’s how I’ve felt over the last few weeks, so I’ve been recharging.
Here's a simple REST framework I use - it might help you design your own recharge strategy:
R for Relational: spending quality downtime with family and friends.
E for Emotional (and Mental): Whether it's skiing with a friend, doing a fun activity with the family or reading fiction, poetry, or an engaging non-fiction book, making time for fun refreshes your mental and emotional reserves.
S for Spiritual: even during breaks, I maintain my normal daily discipline of gratitude, journaling, reading Scripture and a spiritual book, and 20 minutes of prayer/silence. This hour-long practice grounds and centers me.
T for Tangible: this means stepping away from normal work-related activities like emails, meetings, phone calls, coaching sessions—and anything related to work and productivity. That's also why I'm keeping this email short and sweet!
Your Turn to R.E.S.T.
Which area of REST (Relational, Emotional/Mental, Spiritual, or Tangible) needs your immediate attention, and why?
Block out at least 2 hours this week for your most depleted REST area - whether that's family time, a fun activity, spiritual practice, or complete work disconnection.
Until next time,
PS - Great writing takes time. Buy Me a Coffee so I can keep creating.
